The Voice of Canada’s Blockchain Community

PROMOTING THE ACCEPTANCE AND USE OF DIGITAL ASSETS AND BLOCKCHAIN-BASED TECHNOLOGIES IN CANADA

The Chamber of Digital Commerce Canada provides dedicated support for Canada’s emerging and rapidly growing blockchain ecosystem.

We provide unprecedented global access to support the growth of Canada’s blockchain community. Through education, advocacy, and working closely with policy makers, regulatory agencies and industry, our goal is to develop an environment that fosters innovation, jobs and investment in Canada.

Today, the Canada blockchain ecosystem is not well mapped or understood by government. Regulatory, legal and market uncertainties create risk. There are a number of areas where advocacy can be helpful for Canada’s blockchain ecosystem.

Some of Our Core Areas of Focus

    • Token and Securities Regulation: Advocate for clear policies and regulatory environment concerning tokens within securities and other regulatory regimes.
    • Anti Money Laundering: Support strong and informed AML policy and regulation, particularly with regard to virtual currencies. The Chamber recently coordinated with the BAC to submit comments to the Department of Finance’s AML Consultation promoting consistent and meaningful compliance programs.
    • High Skilled Talent: Work with the Federal and Provincial Governments to ensure blockchain skills curriculum is available in schools and communities across Canada.
    • Supportive Innovation Policy in the Blockchain Ecosystem: Work with Government departments and leaders to ensure that blockchain is well understood and accepted by Government. We will provide education and guidance to support the creation and implementation of supportive policies, programs, and funding in Canada.
